The University Engineering Students' Association (UESA) has been awarded the Malta Engineering Excellence Award (MEEA) 2007 for Leadership.

The award was presented to UESA president Ian Buhagiar by Censu Galea, Minister for Competitiveness and Communications, and by the president of the Chamber of Engineers Helga Pizzuto, during a ceremony organised by the Chamber of Engineers at the Aviation Museum.

MEEA provides recognition to individuals or organisations that have achieved outstanding engineering accomplishments that have had a significant impact on Maltese society.

It covers three categories -innovation, leadership and lifetime achievement. The other awards were given to Vodafone Malta (innovation) and Anthony Muscat (lifetime achievement).
