The Engineering Profession Board is in the process of evaluating local engineering education courses, the Infrastructure Ministry has said.
An "international independent organisation" has been roped in to help it evaluate the courses, a ministry spokeswoman said, and educational institutions affected "cooperated fully in this exercise."
READ: Mcast engineering students not being granted their warrant
The statement comes in the wake of revelations, published in the Times of Malta last week, that students graduating from an Mcast engineering course are not being granted their professional warrant.
An Mcast spokesman told the paper that the board's decision not to issue warrants was "discriminatory" and undermined the Malta Qualifications Framework, which ranks the University of Malta and Mcast engineering courses as a level 6 qualification.
The ministry spokeswoman noted that the Engineering Profession Board had not received any questions regarding the matter.
