Three final bids were submitted to an international call for expressions of interest for a long-term Power Purchase Agreement and a Gas Supply Agreement.

The bids were submitted by ElectroGas Malta Consortium, Yildrim Tecnicas Power and Gas Consortium and Endeavor Energy, Exodus Crussing and BB Energy Consortium.

The bids were opened at Enemalta this afternoon.

The new energy supplier will be required to supply some 200 MW from the new gas-fired power plant and corresponding LNG facilities.

The project will also include the conversion of the BWSC power plant to run on gas.

The new power plant will be run by the private sector who will sell the electricity to Enemalta.

The Government's plans also provide for the decommissioning of Marsa power station and phase one of the Delimara power station, including demolition of the chimney.
