The McDonald’s restaurant at Bay Street had its electricity supply cut by Enemalta this week because of pending utility bills running into tens of thousands of euros.

The restaurant’s electricity supply was only interrupted for a short while since a generator at the Paceville complex was used to restore power.

Sources said several warnings had been issued by the bills-handling company, ARMS, before the final action was taken.

The situation, however, does not appear to involve the rest of the McDonald’s chain but is isolated to this one restaurant.

A spokeswoman confirmed that McDonald’s Bay Street was unable to serve customers for some time on Monday but said the situation has now been resolved.
