Enemalta said this afternoon that it had set up a committee to investigate what might have caused a fire which badly damaged a tower ladder van this morning.

The van caught fire at about 9.15 a.m. in EB Vella Street, Mosta. No one was injured but two Enemalta workers were hospitalised for smoke inhalation. They were discharged soon after.

The fire was put out by the Civil Protection Department. A Magisterial inquiry is being held.

Enemalta said its committee would investigate whether the further use of the tower ladder vans posed a danger.

Enemalta has already contacted the affected residents to ensure them that any damages sustained will be compensated.
