The weekend storm caused nine faults on the high voltage network, eight faults on the 11kV overhead lines and one fault on the 33kV overhead line network, Enemalta said.

It said its employees handled more than 1,000 calls from people reporting power cuts and dangerous poles or cables.

Many of these faults occurred mainly due to the unusually strong wind. An overhead line from Xagħra to Marsalforn in Gozo was damaged due to a fallen tree..

Around 900 low voltage faults were recorded since Saturday morning and 98% had been rectified by this morning.

The Corporation thanked the public for its help in locating the faults and the dangers.

Enemalta's Executive Chairman, Louis Giordimaina, today met  the employees involved to thank them for their hard work to restore supply.
