Enemalta has donated a gas detector to the Civil Protection Department.

The MSA Solaris Multi-gas detector is the latest technology apparatus and is able to detect the presence of various hazardous gases and alert its users of any dangerous gases. This way the user will have plenty of time to evacuate before the gases reach dangerous levels.

Most dangerous gases are not easily detected and specialist gas detectors are required in dangerous or risky situations.

Raymond Cremona, the Corporation’s Chief Corporate Services, said cooperation between the department and the corporation was ongoing. Recently, Enemalta assisted the Civil Protection Department through the provision of lighting equipment. Enemalta’s fire section also assisted the civil protection to help secure the Ħagar Qim protective tent, using a specialized winch.
