Officials from the Lands Department, the Malta Tourism Authority and the police took to Ghadira this morning to check whether operators were adhering to the conditions of their encroachment permits.

A spokesman for the Lands Secretariat said that the government was committed to ensure that public land was enjoyed by the public and it was important that Maltese families were allowed to freely enjoy Maltese beaches.

The government wanted to ensure that while the interests of operators giving a service at these beaches were safeguarded, these beaches also remained accessible to Maltese families who did not require the operators' services.
