Emmy Bezzina's "hilarious show" is the best thing on TV since sliced bread, according to former Labour minister Joe Grima.

"Go for it Emy. You're doing just fine in a world drenched in blood, wars, beheadings, displacement of millions of people, wanton bombings of civilians, Imams marrying eight year old brides, a Europe sinking under the weight of two million immigrants and straight-laced hypocrites populating not just the air waves," Mr Grima said in a comment posted to timesofmalta.com's comments board.

The controversial TV presenter's latest insults against his viewers on Smash TV has prompted a probe by the Broadcasting Authority.

Asked by a viewer why he did not get into politics, before branding him a "pea brain", Dr Bezzina called him an "idiot" and then urged him to "jump off Dingli Cliffs with a noose attached to his neck... You're an onion marinated in mice droppings."

The presenter's insults had the support of many, including Mr Grima, who is now the government's special envoy for the World Tourism Organisation.

"The politically-correct brigade is out in force, shocked to its cotton socks, shielding itself from Emy's inventive and, indeed, original tirades against those who abuse the presenter during Il Parlament tal Poplu , and who attempt to bring him down with the content of their calls."

Mr Grima said Dr Bezzina spares nobody on his show and he is sure that he has a huge following.

"Our stiff-collar broadcasting needs more than just Emy to lighten up our day. The truth is that few have his gumption and "a-plague-on-all-your-houses (not just both) attitude to handle a monologue the way Emy handles his. I hope the new BA chairman will show the "off-with-his-head" crowd the straight and narrow path to the door and will judge the Programme for what it is - an impromptu, off the cuff, irreverent and, in some ways, ground breaking show which does more to entertain than it does to straighten the political bends."

Mr Grima, a former broadcaster, posted his comments on Times of Malta's comments board around midnight. Within an hour he resorted to his Facebook page to complain that his post had been censored by the moderator.
