A court employee has been fined €180 after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle a penknife into the Law Courts in November last year.

Armando Debono, 56, a court messenger, was also found guilty of being drunk in public and of breaching the peace.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri, who presided over the case, heard how Mr Debono had tried to conceal the weapon but was still caught.
