Roma 5 Cesena 1

Juventus 2 Atalanta 0

Juventus secured their place at the top of Serie A at the midway stage of the season with a 2-0 win over Atalanta in Bergamo this evening.

After a one-sided first half in which the Bianconeri tried everything to score, they broke the deadlock in the 55th minute through Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Substitute Emanuele Giaccherini added a second eight minutes from time as Antonio Conti's side opened up a four-point advantage over AC Milan at the top of the table.

Earlier this evening, Francesco Totti netted twice in the opening eight minutes to set Roma on their way to a 5-1 home win over relegation-threatened Cesena.

Totti's brace took his tally to 211 goals for Roma, overtaking former AC Milan striker Gunnar Nordahl's record for the most goals for a single club in the Italian league.

Luis Enrique's side were 3-0 up after nine minutes when Fabio Borini added his name to the scoresheet and, although Citadin Eder pulled one back for the visitors in the 58th minute, Juan soon added the Giallorossi's fourth.

Miralem Pjanic wrapped up a brilliant night for Roma at the Stadio Olimpico with a fifth goal 20 minutes from time.

The result - Roma's fourth consecutive league win - lifted the Eternal City outfit up to sixth place, and they have a game in hand after last weekend's match at Catania was suspended due to a waterlogged pitch.
