Eighties stuntman Eddie Kidd managed to walk down the aisle for his wedding despite suffering devastating injuries in a bike crash 14 years ago.

The 51-year-old was helped out of his wheelchair to tie the knot with former model and actress Samantha Kirli.

Both the bride, 41, and the groom struggled to hold back the tears as Mr Kidd approached, assisted by best man, former wrestler Tony Banger Walsh.

Celebrities including actor Ray Winstone and spoon bender Uri Geller were among the guests at the emotional marriage ceremony.

Mr Kidd was left partially paralysed by spinal and neurological injuries when he crashed during a stunt at the 1996 Bulldog Bash in Warwickshire.

Speaking with the aid of a voice box, he told Hello! magazine: “Sam is very good looking, very sexy and a very good person.

“She’s been so good for me.

“She’s my rock and my world.

“If she wasn’t strong she’d be no good.

“I wish I’d married her earlier.”

The couple first dated in the 1980s when Mr Kidd was in the prime of his career as a daredevil stunt performer and body double for Hollywood stars including Harrison Ford and Michael Douglas.

They were reunited a few years ago at a birthday party.

Describing Mr Kidd as the “love of my life”, the new Mrs Kidd admitted it was difficult to cope with his disabilities.

“There have been lots of ups and downs,” she told the magazine. “I find it quite hard sometimes when I see him struggling.

“There have been times when I’ve had to walk out of the room and stop myself from bursting into tears, telling myself: ‘Just be strong’.”
