Emirates is marking the opening of its new route to Durban in South Africa today by offering business class passengers two free nights’ accommodation in a standard room at Durban’s Southern Elangeni Hotel.

The deal, for those travelling between today and December 24, covers single or double room occupancy, buffet breakfast and free Discovery Durban entertainment vouchers. The vouchers include on a free of charge basis: access to Ushaka Marine Park; access to SunCoast private beach; movie tickets at SunCoast Casino entertainment centre; and takeaway meals from SunCoast Casino entertainment centre participating outlets.

Durban is in Kwa Zulu Natal province which has an abundance of wildlife and plays host to some of Africa’s most famous nature and game reserves. There are also hundreds of kilometres of subtropical beaches on the Indian Ocean coastline.

On the business side, Durban is recognised as the busiest port in Africa, while the province is a key commercial and manufacturing centre. Emirates SkyCargo has already set up a base in Durban to support the movement of goods.

Emirates, an official partner for FIFA 2010 in South Africa, offers its business class passengers a complimentary chauffeur-drive, exclusive lounges, business class check-in desks, priority baggage handling and an additional free 10 kg of luggage.

Flight EK775 departs from Dubai at 10.25 a.m., arriving at Durban International Airport at 5.10 p.m. With a flight time of around eight hours and 45 minutes, Durban is Emirates’ 17th route into Africa. In addition to the new service to Durban, the awardwinning carrier already flies three times a day to Johannesburg and daily into Cape Town.

From Malta, Emirates flies daily to Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus.
