The Malta Racing Club will be holding the final of the Emirates It-Tazza l-Kbira on Sunday at the Marsa racetrack.

The finalists in the 2,140m autostart race will be Arnie Sensation, Bello Fratello, Gigo Lloyd, In Vitro Du Bourg, Iris Du Louvet, James De l'Iton, Kosker Mancellerie, Ksar and Lindsay Neve.

Think Yatzee was scratched before the draw earlier this week.

The owners of the winning horse will be awarded the coveted trophy and €2,000.

The prize-giving ceremony will be carried out by Emirates Manager for Malta and Cyprus Paul Fleri Soler.

This is the first time that Emirates Airline is partnering the Malta Racing Club as stipulated in a three-year sponsorship agreement running up to 2011.

Fleri Soler said: "The long-standing tradition horse racing enjoys among the thousands of enthusiasts in Malta, and the fact that It-Tazza l-Kbira is the only event at Marsa that is open to all trotters and classes, have attracted Emirates to this sponsorship.

"Our sponsorship has an added meaning as this final will be held on the 140th anniversary since the first race meeting in Marsa."

During the draw, club chairman Matthew Brincat thanked the sponsors for their support.

"Supporting It-Tazza l-Kbira is hopefully the first step towards a worthwhile sponsorship where Emirates will be backing a meaningful tradition for the Maltese horse racing community. In return it will be generating further interest in such prestigious events backed by Emirates as the Dubai World Cup and the Melbourne Cup," Dr Brincat said.

Sunday's meeting starts at 3 p.m. with seven races on the card.

The final, the sixth in programme, starts at 5 p.m.
