Eleanor Mangion Walker was not killed at the warehouse where her body was found late on Sunday, police have established.

Police are appealing for information to find Andrew Mangion, who they believe had a hand in the gruesome murder.

"We don't know if he dealt the final blow, but we're almost sure he had a hand in the murder," a police source told Times of Malta this morning.

The 33-year-old mother was found dead in a pool of blood in an unused warehouse in Triq il-Kummerċ in Qormi. Mr Mangion held the key to the warehouse.

The police believe Ms Mangion Walker was killed following head injury caused by a blunt object on Saturday afternoon.

There are still no signs of Mr Mangion's whereabouts, except for a phonecall which claimed he was seen in the Mtahleb area yesterday. No body has been found and there are on indications that the suspect had left the island. His mobile phone is off service.

Police are still baffled what led to the murder since the victim had been very open about her relationship with another man. The couple had married in 2009, but their relationship hit the rocks and they were undergoing separation proceedings. However, they were still living under the same roof, police sources said.

The suspect, who works as a handyman, has no criminal record.

A mother of a nine-year-old girl, Ms Mangion Walker was a part-time beautician and make-up artist from Swieqi who loved art, played the piano and enjoyed life, according to her partner.

The police are appealing for anybody about the suspect or his whereabouts to phone, even anonymously, on 119 or 2122 4001 or Qormi police station on 2294 2378 or 2144 6133.
