Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg was given a warm welcome yesterday morning by a number of elderly citizens at the Canifor Hotel in Qawra, even though they had been expecting Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

Despite some evident initial disappointment, those present greeted Dr Borg with great enthusiasm, waving PN flags and asking him to sign them. Dr Gonzi was unable to attend due to other commitments. Dr Borg said his party has always worked in favour of the elderly, who had been previously ignored. He mentioned a number of measures that the government has already introduced and others which it is pledging if re-elected.

"Let us work until the end because every vote counts," he said.
