The Żejtun Organisation to Empower You (ŻOEY) is organising a fun treasure hunt around the historic streets of Żejtun on Wednesday from 6pm.

ŻOEY is a students’ organisation founded in 2013 and forms part of the Żejtun council. Its main aim is to promote culture, heritage, history, arts and education among youths, aged 13 upwards. Any secondary and post-secondary student can join ŻOEY.

The treasure hunt will take place on foot around the narrow streets of Żejtun centre with the focus on the town’s heritage trail.

The hunt is open to all children and youths aged eight to 25. Parents can accompany children, should they wish. Adults over 25 cannot compete but only assist.

Those wishing to take part should form a group of four. Should this not be possible, the organisers will form the groups on location before the start of the hunt.

The treasure hunt will start from Ġnien l-Għannejja Żwieten (known as St Gregory’s Gardens) and will last around one hour. Participants will be asked to identify and photograph 25 different locations along the heritage route where envelopes will be placed with information on the points of interest.

The event is free and participants will be in with a chance to win prizes, including cinema tickets for Embassy Cinema, books from Agenda, bowling session tickets from Eden Bowling, and Esprit clothing vouchers. Everyone will take home a goodie bag and vouchers.

Participants are reminded that they need to be equipped with a camera or mobile phone camera.

To apply, send an e-mail to chircop.sean@gmail.com or call on 9920 3815. One can also register with the Żejtun council by calling 2166 3866. The deadline to register is tomorrow.
