The European Institute of Education has been formally appointed as a representative of the University of Essex. Through its dedicated Study Abroad Unit, EIE can now recruit students who seek to further their education on campus at the University of Essex.

The specialised unit within the European Institute of Education focuses students to further their education in any of EIE's foreign partner universities.

The University of Essex is a high-quality university, with an international commitment. Its campus is a lively community with over 7,200 students of whom 5,600 are undergraduates.

Essex aims to offer a rich and dynamic student experience: the recent International Student Barometer survey of international students in more than 80 UK universities ranks Essex as number one for the quality of the support given to students.

Official data shows that the University of Essex is ranked among the top ten of all UK universities for the quality of both its teaching and its research.

The most recent version of the The Good University Guide, published in London's The Independent, placed the University of Essex in 25th place of all UK universities against a wide range of criteria. Essex is regularly ranked amongst the top 25 per cent of British universities.

The University of Essex's main campus is located in Colchester, less than an hour's drive from central London and only 35 minutes away from Stansted Airport.

EIE president Antonello Cappitta said the organisation was committed to providing the best possible service to its students - not only those who study on its campuses in Malta and abroad, but also to those who want to further their education at a foreign university.

"Studying abroad may have been a dream for most Maltese, but not everyone manages to do so for a variety of reasons," he said. "EIE offers guidance and helps our students make an informed decision, not only when it comes to choosing the right degree but also when it comes to choose the best university. This way we believe we can increase the numbers of Maltese students studying at recognised and distinguished foreign universities."

It has been proven that medium to long-term experiences abroad help individuals to further enhance career prospects and create previously inaccessible opportunities.

Studies show that employers in the fields of business, finance and international affairs, increasingly seek to recruit graduates who have studied abroad. They know that students who have successfully completed a study abroad programme are likely to possess international knowledge and often second-language skills, Mr Cappitta pointed out.
