I refer to John Vassallo’s opinion article entitled ‘The Republic of Darkness’, (The Sunday Times of Malta, August 12).

Dr Vassallo reflects upon the inquiring magistrate’s inability to establish the name of Egrant company’s beneficial owner.

The inquiring magistrate asserted that he was unable to establish the name of Egrant’s owner because this name was not even divulged by e-mail. Dr Vassallo muses: was this name therefore transmitted via a Skype call?

Dr Vassallo, himself a former legal counsel of Skype-owning Microsoft, enquires logically: has the inquiring magistrate issued a warrant to seek from Microsoft a transcript or sound-recording of the related call? After all, this would establish Egrant company’s ownership once and for all!
