• Sliema are sweating on the fitness of midfielder Mandinho ahead of today’s match against Mosta.

Mandinho suffered a knee injury during training this week and will be assessed by the club’s medical staff before the 18-man squad is decided.

The Blues, buoyed by last week’s 2-0 win over Pembroke, will again be without winger Njongo Priso who completes a two-match ban.

Mosta will be looking to bounce back from last week’s 2-1 derby upset to Naxxar Lions.

They will be without Zachary Brincat, suspended, while Dyson Falzon is still unavailable due to a knee injury.

Previous results: Sliema Wanderers vs Mosta 2-1, 1-1.

• Balzan will be without their chief striker and goal-getter Alfred Effiong as they look to maintain their pursuit of second spot when they take bottom-placed Qormi this evening.

Effiong, who currently tops the scorers’ list with 16 goals, must serve a one-match ban and therefore has to skip the meeting with his former team. Midfielder Pedrinho returns from suspension.

Long-term absentees Ryan Fenech and Bojan Kaljevic are both back in training but will not be considered for selection.

Qormi will be without wing-back Emerson Vella who was handed a one-match ban.

Coach Johann Scicluna may also opt to leave out Ryan Micallef as the forward is just one booking away from suspension that would rule him out of next week’s basement clash with Naxxar.

Previous results: Balzan vs Qormi 1-0, 5-0.

• Birkirkara are concerned about the fitness of attacking duo Ryan Camenzuli and Matija Smrekar as they look to make it four wins in a row when they face St Andrew’s.

Camenzuli skipped his team’s 2-0 win over Qormi due to a foot injury while Smrekar picked up a knock and is also rated as doubtful.

Midfielder Ryan Scicluna is out as he was handed a one-match suspension in midweek.

St Andrew’s, desperate for points in their fight against relegation, welcome Eloy Nkene back in the team but Dale Camilleri is still out with a hamstring injury.

Previous results: Birkirkara vs St Andrew’s 4-0, 3-1.

• Bjorn Kristensen is back for Hibernians as the champions take on neighbours Tarxien Rainbows tomorrow.

The midfielder sat out Hibs’ 3-1 win over Floriana last week due to suspension but is now available for the Paolites in their bid to stay in the race for the league title.

Hibs must check on the fitness of skipper Andrew Cohen while forward Jorge is pushing for a place in the line-up after coming on as a second-half substitute against Floriana after a long-term injury.

Tarxien could be without goalkeeper Andrea Cassar. He suffered a shoulder injury against Valletta. However, striker Sergio Prendes returns after completing a three-match ban.

Midfielder Triston Caruana will undergo a late fitness test while defender Daniel Zerafa is suspended.

Previous results: Hibs vs Tarxien 1-0, 2-0.
