‘Welcome to German!’ is the name of an educational fair being held next weekend at Maria Assumpta Girls’ Secondary School, Triq Farsons, Ħamrun.

The fair is being held over two days: on Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for school students and teachers, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for parents, undergraduate students, graduates and all those interested.

The fair is being held on the initiative of the Department of German of the University of Malta, and aims to create awareness of the presence of the German/Austrian culture and economy in Malta.

With the various stands of German-Maltese and Austrian-Maltese companies, of institutions working in the fields of German language and culture and of other institutions, visitors can obtain information about Germany and Austria and about the German and Austrian involvement in the Maltese cultural, educational and economic sectors.

During the event, several German and Austrian companies operating in Malta, educational associations and other institutions will be presenting their activities and offers.

The highlights of the fair are a music workshop, ‘Chaos Beat Symphonie’, a treasure hunt, a discussion, a workshop for teachers of German, and the presentation of Goethe Institute language certificates.

The fair is being held in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service, the German-Maltese Circle, the Embassies of Germany and Austria, and the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education.
