The Malta Gaming Authority has issued a licence to Casino Malta, owned by the Eden Leisure Group, which will open its doors today.
It will be the fourth casino in Malta.
European casino owner and operator Olympic Entertainment Group (OEG) will be the operator.
The new casino has hired 175 full timers, some of whom have been training for several months both in Malta and in other casinos owned by OEG, Eden Leisure said.
The new casino is the largest on the island and has come at an investment of over €12 million.
The new facility also includes a lounge bar area and will hold regular live music events.
Owners Ian and Kevin De Cesare said, “We are delighted to finally open our doors after several years in the process. We are lucky to have great operator partners in our businesses from Olympic Entertainment to our hotel operators InterContinental Hotel Group to together will ensure that the industry is grown rather than cannibalised from other operators. The synergies of significant hotel accommodation, an existing entertainment business and great partners is, what we hope is a tremendous winning formula.”
Casino Malta is situated in St. George’s Bay on level 1 of the InterContinental.
