Former President Eddie Fenech Adami has been admitted to hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack.

Dr Fenech Adami, 77, was admitted at about 2 p.m after feeling unwell during lunch.

His condition was described as stable and it is not thought to be serious. He is expected to stay in hospital for a few days.

Dr Fenech Adami underwent a heart bypass operation some years ago.

This morning he attended the funeral of the mother of former minister Francis Zammit Dimech.

In a statement, the Nationalist Party wished Dr Fenech Adami a speedy recovery and a speedy return to his family, his home, and normal daily life - fully recovered, and in good health.

In another statement, the Labour Party also wished Dr Fenech Adami a speedy recovery.
