The difference between the Nationalist Party and the Labour Party is that while Labour believes it is important to have a strong economy the PN believes the economy must serve the needs of the people, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil told a conference yesterday.

Speaking at a conference organised by the Nationalist Party entitled ‘Dignity for the Worker’ on the occasion of May Day, Dr Busuttil highlighted local statistics which show that employees’ wages in real terms had decreased over the past three years, especially for office and factory workers and people who work in the retail sector.

Dr Busuttil also said that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Minister Konrad Mizzi and chief of staff Keith Schembri were giving the worst example to Maltese workers.

What was happening to the country in the wake of the Panama Papers scandal was a huge blow to their dignity, Dr Busuttil said.
