Juventus cruised into the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia as Sebastian Giovinco pulled the strings in a 3-0 home victory over Serie B side Avellino.

The diminutive forward scored a fine goal on the turn after eight minutes before feeding Martin Caceres for Juve's second 10 minutes later.

Avellino's fate was effectively sealed just before the break as Fabio Quagliarella headed home a Giovinco cross.

The second half did not produce a fourth goal, but a half-full Juventus Stadium was treated to the sight of injury-plagued midfielder Simone Pepe returning to action for the Bianconeri for the first time in a year.

The Italian champions will next face either Roma or Sampdoria, who meet on January 9, in the last eight.
