The annual outdoor non-mainstream music festival, featuring over 100 acts from around the world, kicks off this evening.

Patrons can flock to five stages where they can listen to various music genres, including world music, blues, jazz, funk, ska, dub, reggae, psychedelic and alternative rock, gypsy punk, psychedelic trance and dub, techno, acid, house, ambient, electro and drum and bass.

Among the bands on the Roots Stage are Gentleman’s Dub Club from the UK;  the eight-piece KOG and the Zongo Brigade; the Turbans, who bring together Europe and the Middle East; Wild Marmalade from Australia; and Nicky Bomba (Australia) and the Malta Sky Orchestra; Brikkuni and Cushion from Malta; while the Eletronic Sphere will host techno legend Regis, acid master Luke Vibert, trance veterans Etnika and DJ Antaro, among others.

The other stages, Enchanted Forest, Strawberry Hill and the Jamming Area, also have a jam-packed programme.

There is also an ethnic market, a food court, a fun park and various workshops, on yoga, tea and relationships, among others. Patrons can also camp at the festival.
