The Malta College of Arts Science and Technology has provided 34 of its ICT students the opportunity to re-sit annual exams after an agreement was reached with private training providers.

The college has been having trouble providing re-sits because of the increasing number of students each year. In the case of ICT students, re-sits were not possible because the college's computer stations had been taken up by new applicants.

Mcast said the students were required to complete a number of study units to comply with standard practices in contemporary educational institutions. Some students who fail such units manage to remedy the situation straightaway through a re-sit. Those who do not have the option to do a re-sit, however, have to return the following year to repeat the study unit they would have failed.

Instead, Computer Domain and St Martin's College, which are already involved in delivering Mcast courses, have accommodated the 34 failing ICT students free of charge.

The college thanked the two institutions for taking an active interest in the wellbeing of its students.
