Public opinion continued to oppose the transport strikers and an e-mail encouraging a boycott of public transport "until they learn to respect this country and its citizens" was doing the rounds yesterday.

"How long are we going to have to tolerate the rudeness and arrogance of the public transport operators," it questioned, listing the many shortcomings of the service.

"Now, they are telling us they want to keep doing it forever and when they die, they want to leave it in their wills for their children and their children's children to keep doing it even longer...

"We can stop this. We can say no to this arrogance," the e-mail continued, urging the Maltese to support the government in this battle, saying it was not a political issue.
