The flower bed which embellished part of Dwejra Lines in memory of Queen Victoria for more than 30 years is no longer there. What a shame! Is this the way to instil in our children love for nature and the history of our islands, by destroying instead of enhancing part of our heritage? On October 29, the Malta Environment and Planning Authority board decided against the upkeep of this flower bed and ordered its removal within six days. For what purpose?

What harm was it doing?

Hundreds of Maltese and tourists, who went on walks in the area for many years, appreciated such a beautiful asset to nature and to our historical heritage.

To destroy a beautiful flower-bed to make room for a parking place is unbelievable.
