The stamp duty waiver being given to first-time home buyers does not apply to people who before their purchase have been given a property by their parents, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said in reply to a parliamentary question by Charles Buhagiar (PL).

He pointed out that even if the donation did not constitute a residence, such a donation was still an acquisition inter vivos.
