Netherlands and Romania were level 0-0 after a lacklustre first half in their final group match this evening.

Romania, who will qualify for the last eight if they win, had the better of the few chances created but most were from long range.

Captain Cristian Chivu fired a free kick over from a good position after nine minutes before Adrian Mutu and Gabriel Tamas went close with 25-metre drives.

Arjen Robben should have snatched the lead for the Dutch in the 36th minute when he latched on to a through ball from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar but slipped the ball wide from six metres with only keeper Bogdan Lobont to beat.
