An Irish couple that staggered into a stranger's house in Sliema and fell asleep, got a conditional discharge today after they apologized and also admitted stealing money to find their binge drinking.
Eoin Eamonn Hogan, 31, and his girlfriend Elaine Hurley, 28 stole just over €77 in tips from a bar and a cafeteria, used them to binge on alcohol and then entered a residence where they were found asleep.
The two stole a tips box from Black Bull Pub in Paceville and from Cara’s Cafeteria in Sliema on Wednesday. They then found the door of a house ajar, entered and fell asleep.
Defence counsel Mark Mifsud Cutajar, who was appointed legal aid, said his clients were apologising for their actions, described by prosecuting officer Neville Mercieca as “childish acts”.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri conditionally discharged them for a year and gave them two days to repay the money they had stolen.
