A man who was taken to court for allegedly being in possession of a sachet of cocaine was acquitted today after it turned out that the sachet only contained paracetamol.

Scott Dixon, a well known boxer, had been accused of being in simple possession of cocaine  in St Julian's two years ago.

However court-appointed expert Godwin Scerri testified that the sachet contained parcetamol.

He was therefore acquitted.

Mr Dixon is undergoing separate proceedings for allegedly conspiring to traffic half a ton of cannabis and being in possession of the drug between June and September 2009. He is pleading not guilty.
