A drug mule was jailed for eight years and fined €23,000 today after admitting to importing almost 500 grams of cocaine.

The man, Agboola Remilekun Kamorudeen, a 47-year-old from Nigeria, was arrested at the airport after a flight from Brussels in August 2008.

The court heard how the accused had conspired to import the cocaine, packed in capsules he had in his stomach, and he was to receive payment of €1,200. The drug had a street value of between €33,000 and €52,000.

The drug was to be delivered to the person who called him on his mobile phone in Malta.

Kamorudeen was arrested however after an x-ray revealed the capsules in his stomach,
