A Panamanian man was today jailed for 14 years and fined €30,000 after admitting to having imported drugs in 2009.

Nicholas Gabriel King Jimenez made his admission just before his trial was due to start.

He admitted to carrying almost two kilos of cocaine on a flight from Brussels to Malta on May 26, 2009.

The drug had a street value of between €137,000 and €214,000.
