A 24-year-old driver has been fined €1,500 after crashing into a karozzin and injuring the cabdriver.

Yousef Essesi, 24, also had his driving licence suspended for 30 days after admitting to negligent driving and hitting the karozzin driven by Paul Pirotta  on August 6 of last year in St Anne Street, Floriana.

He also admitted driving his BMW without a licence and relapsing.

Mr Pirotta fractured his hand and is still suffering the consequences of his fracture one year on.

Still, he said he would not be resorting to further criminal action since Mr Essesi had cooperated and the costs of the damages were settled by the insurance of the accused.

Police Inspector Priscilla Caruana prosecuted.
