A driver has been hospitalised after his Renault Megane crashed down an old quarry now used as an animal quarantine facility.

The incident happened at about 10.45am in Corradino.

The vehicle apparently hit a parked car before leaving the road, crashing through a gate and falling a height of more than two storeys.

It hit a room at the bottom - dislodging some stones - before ending up upside down.

The driver, 52 from Xaghjra, is in critical condition.
