A drunk driver hit and killed a cyclist and then carried his body on the bonnet of his car for more than 10 miles (16km) until he stopped at a toll station, police in Argentina said.

Officers told the La Nacion newspaper that 28-year-old Pablo Daniel Garcia struck 53-year-old Reinaldo Rodas on the Pan-American Highway.

Mr Rodas hit the car's windscreen and was then carried along until the vehicle stopped at a toll station, where an attendant called police.

The newspaper said Garcia has been charged with reckless homicide.

Mr Rodas, a security guard at a country club, was married and had a 13-year-old son.
