Cleveland authorities say a drive-by shooting killed a baby girl who was hit in the chest while riding in a car.
The county medical examiner's office says emergency medics rushed the five-month-old girl to a children's hospital, where she died after the shooting.
Police said the baby's mother was driving with at least one other person in a neighbourhood a few miles south east of the city centre, and only the child was hit.
Officials suspect the gunfire came from an apartment building, but no immediate arrests were made.
It's the third deadly drive-by shooting of a child in Cleveland over the past month. A three-year-old boy and a five-year-old boy were killed in September.
