Do you drink eight glasses of water a day? And why should you drink them?
The truth is that your body needs from 2.55 litres to 3.55 litres on a daily basis. In hot weather you will need a little bit more. Water is involved in every function of the body. Drinking water must be of high quality as it makes up about 60 to 75 per cent of our body weight. Water is our inner taxi – it transports nutrients in and out of our cells. This is one of the reasons why people trying to lose weight should drink more than the average daily recommended allowance of eight glasses.

Water has no calories but some can have added sweeteners in the form of fructose, making the taste suitable for those who do not like water in its natural form. Drinking such water is better than drinking soft drinks on a daily basis.

You can also get your water from tea and coffee but these are also diuretics so it is best to limit them in your daily intakes.

Now should it be bottled water or tap water?

The answer is simple, both of them are scrutinised to a high standard since all governments take care that water reaching our houses is healthy and the same goes for well renowned companies who provide bottled water. One word of advice here is not to let bottled water stay in sunlight. And if you store bottled water for more than 10 weeks, this could create extra Phthalates-chemicals coming from the plastic cap or liner which will actually harm the body. Therefore good quality bottled water should only be bought from serious companies – ones that give ready available testing and treatment information for the public. Moreover make sure that the shop from where you buy them does not leave them in the sunlight – like in a shop window exposed for long hours in the sun.

On the other hand, should the public install water filters in their homes?

If you do not like the taste of your tap water then most probably you should install a type of filter to get that extra precaution. There is always the Health Department if you have any doubts about any type of water.
Our final suggestion goes to those who suffer from high blood pressure – chose water which is low in sodium.
