A draft agreement has been reached between the University of Malta, the University of Malta Academic Staff Association and the Malta Union of Teachers.

In joint statement, the government and the unions said that Noel Vella, the director of the Department of Industrial and Employment Relations had been mediating with them over the past three days.

“After intensive discussions, the parties reached a draft agreement which will be presented for the approval of the academic staff ,” they said.

The unions and the government had been in dispute over lecturers' pay.
