Dozens of people have been taken to hospital after being caught in a fire in seven-mile long Norwegian road tunnel.

A police spokesman said a truck caught fire just over two miles into the tunnel, Gudvangatunnelen, in a district east of Bergen.

He said it was unclear how seriously injured the people were, and that many had suffered smoke inhalation.

Gudvangatunnelen is 7.08 miles long and is in the western part of the country.
