As the world marks World Cancer Day on Sunday, Gozitans and residents of towns across Malta's south have been asked to do their part in helping patients by donating blood.

Two blood transfusion clinics will be operating from Gozo General Hospital and St James Hospital in Żabbar on the day, to make it easier for people living in those areas to donate blood.

The clinic in Gozo will open at 8am at the hospital's outpatients department, with the last registration accepted at 1pm. In Żabbar, things will kick off 30 minutes later, at 8.30am.

Donors must present a valid ID card or driving licence to be registered.
