FLORIANA 4, MARSAXLOKK 0
Floriana maintained their winning run in the BOV Premier League after they cantered past bottom-side Marsaxlokk 4-0 in a one-sided encounter at the Hibs Stadium this afternoon.
The Greens took just two minutes to forge ahead when Christian Cassar’s throughball released Andre Grabowski and the Swedish midfielder planted the ball past Marsaxlokk goalkeeper Christian Cassar.
Floriana came close to double lead twice in the opening 45 minutes but both Onome Sodje and Manolito saw their fierce efforts coming off the woodwork.
However, the Greens made it 2-0 five minutes from the break when from a Christian Cassar corner kick Sodje nodded the ball into the path of Manolito Micallef who blasted the ball home.
Floriana managed to add a third goal on 64 minutes when Woods released John Mintoff who raced past Marsaxlokk goalkeeper Cassar and stabbed the ball into an empty net.
Ivan Woods wrapped up the points for the Greens three minutes from time. Jean Paul Farrugia was just to have handled the ball inside the area and referee Malcolm Spiteri pointed the spot. From the resultant penalty Woods drilled the ball into the net.
Floriana midfielder Christian Cassar was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
