NCW notes with satisfaction the publication of the Draft Domestic Violence Act, recently approved by Cabinet and which will be presented to Parliament for the second reading in the coming weeks.

As early as 1980, it was the NCW that first started to raise awareness of this issue, followed by the first public conference, which served to encourage women suffering from domestic violence to seek help.

Strong legislation on domestic violence will be a major step forward in combating gender discrimination.
