After 39 weeks of sipping, slurping and swallowing some really great wine and food combinations, the fifth series of the popular cooking programme Aroma Kitchen has come to a close.
The last live show was filmed on the waterside at Ħondoq ir-Rummien, Gozo.
A variety of barbecue recipes were cooked by resident chefs Manuel Xuereb and Aaron Degabriele, as well as guests Mark and Louise Doneo and Auntie Ġola. Three easy drinking wines were selected to accompany the food – a red, a white and a rosé.
They were all DOK Gozo wines: Victoria Heights Chardonnay, Merlot and Shiraz Rosé.
During summer, the main thing you need to worry about is how to get them all cold, including the red. There is nothing worse than drinking warm wines, especially reds as they take on a “stewed” flavour.
The show came to an end with the draw of the Delicata/Hilton/ Aroma Kitchen competition winner.
Thousands of entries were sent, with all participants hoping to win a five-star gourmet weekend for two at Hilton Malta.
The lucky winner was Alfred Scicluna from Tarxien, who will be invited for a meeting with the Hilton chefs to plan this culinary weekend by discussing any dietary details that need to be considered.
