A dog walk and a motorbike ride for charity are being organised by two television presenters to raise money for sanctuaries caring for abandoned animals and to create awareness about cruelty.

Nevise Borg Caligari and her husband Pierre Borg, presenters and producers of Pink Panther and On D Road respectively, are organising two fund-raising events for the benefit of the abandoned animals.

The dog walk will be held today at 1 p.m. starting from the Animal Welfare Department at Għammieri (limits of Luqa) and heading towards Qormi, where with the help of the local council, coffee and pastries will be served.

All dog owners are encouraged to join in, while those who don’t have a pet can still go along and take a dog from the department’s sanctuary for the walk.

Besides collecting funds, this silent walk is meant to increase awareness about the abuse faced by dogs.

The charity ride will be held tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. at Luxol Grounds.

The final destination is Ħaġar Qim Bar and Restaurant in Qrendi, where there will be a motorbike show, music, food and a raffle.

All bikers and biker clubs are encouraged to join, to contribute towards this cause.

The money collected from this ride will be handed out in voucher form, to be redeemed in pet food and medicine by sanctuaries and volunteers who are most in need.

Donations can be made by sending an SMS on 5061 7362 for €2.33 and on 5061 8073 for €4.66.
