The dogs, who appeared to have escaped their owner, had been reported to police by a member of the public. They were subsequently picked up by Animal Welfare officials.

In a Facebook post, Dr Abela praised PC Swain for having gone out of his way to mind the dogs and ensure they were not a threat to the public, saying he was "a credit to his uniform".
