An emergency physician response unit set up for serious incidents and cases which involve a lot of people in May had already taken part in 19 incidents, Health Minister Chris Fearne said today.
Two doctors were handling two cars at all hours to be able to go on the sites of major accidents to give first aid.
The minister said 92 people were involved in the 19 incidents the doctors were called to assist in.
Mr Fearne said that waiting times at the Emergency Department had improved with 79 per cent of patients being served in less than four hours and 84 per cent of patients within six hours of arrival.
He said the aim was to reach 90 per cent in both instances.
