A Dock 7 road opened to traffic some months ago will be closed to all vehicles as of this coming Friday, Transport Malta has announced.

Commuters who usually use the road have been urged to use St Paul Boffa Avenue in Paola instead, with Transport Malta saying it had introduced a tidal system on the road to ensure another lane was available during peak hours.

The road closure is down to construction of the Mediterranean Maritime Hub entering a new phase. "The access road will now be within a construction site. It will not be safe enough for vehicles to go through," Transport Malta said in a statement explaining the closure.

The €55 million Mediterranean Maritime Hub will be a maritime service centre for oil rigs and a learning institute.
